Ever since our foundation, BairesDev has been committed to helping create opportunities for people underrepresented in the tech industry. We’ve always strived to foster talent and help it thrive, regardless of where it might be. That’s why we’re so thrilled to see the results of the latest edition of our Giveback Program, which has been a great success.

The program (formerly known as B-Grants) takes place twice a year and has BairesDev preparing a curated list of NPOs focused on building a more inclusive tech industry. We invite clients to pick one of the NPOs (or suggest one of their own) and BairesDev then proceeds to donate funds to the selected organizations. Thus, the latest edition of our Giveback Program saw BairesDev donating funds to Womxn in Power, EveryoneOn, NPower, Close the Gap, and LaunchCode, as well as 24 other NPOs, all of which are organizations fighting for digital equality and tech education.

The importance of helping these organizations can’t be overstated. Just in 2021 alone, these NPOs supported more than 100,000 people from all over the world and their reach grows with each passing year.

That’s why we are proud to share that, thanks to the 224 donations from the Giveback Program, these NPOs were able to help more than 1,500 talented people from diverse backgrounds, who will now have access to industry certifications, tech resources, digital education, and even job opportunities within the sector.

We’re excited to see that this number of donations represents a 60% increase in the number of clients participating in the Giveback Program. What’s more, the total donation amount also rose 8% compared to the previous edition, a number that shows us that we’re on the right path—but that challenges us to keep growing even more in the next edition.

Discussing the impact of our Giveback Program donations, the people over at NPower, an organization that aims to launch digital careers for military veterans and young adults from underserved communities, said that “BairesDev donations have provided enough to underwrite industry certification testing for all of the women in the next Silicon Valley training cohort.” This means that around 40 women will get an industry-recognized certification that will boost their chances of landing their first job in the tech industry.

For their part, Close the Gap, an international social enterprise that offers high-quality, pre-owned devices donated by European companies to educational, medical, and social projects in developing and emerging countries, said that BairesDev’s donations will help “fully equip a computer lab in Africa with 30 computers and offer training to local personnel of a school that is in need of ICT devices.” Those contributions will help 600 students get the digital education they need to develop their talent and thrive in today’s world.

The results from our latest edition of the Giveback Program show that, by partnering with our clients, we can help create opportunities for those underrepresented in the tech industry. We understand that these types of initiatives are essential to build a more diverse tech sector that offers opportunities for talented people everywhere, which is why we’re committed to keeping our Giveback Program going and growing with more editions to come.
